Inspiration: 17th Century Dutch Masters
Alexander James re-interprets the works of the 17th century Dutch Masters in his ‘Vanitas’ series. Using period props, food and real insects, he captures underwater scenes ‘in-camera’ without the use of post production. The subtle distortions of light & movement from the water create a unique and painterly, almost dreamlike effect. The colors pop against the black background and are absolutely stunning.
